Laramie County, home to Cheyenne and the state capital, is Wyoming's most populous county and the seat of the First Judicial District. The Laramie County Clerk of District Court keeps felony criminal, civil, family, juvenile, and probate files for the district court. The Circuit Court Clerk of the First Judicial District is a separate office in the same building that keeps misdemeanor, small-civil, eviction, and protection-order files for the circuit court.

Neither office offers a public online case search. Wyoming has no statewide docket lookup for trial courts, so searching a Laramie County case means calling or visiting the clerk, or using the free public-access terminal at the Laramie County Courthouse Complex.

Tickets and ordinance violations written by Cheyenne police go to Cheyenne Municipal Court, a separate city system the county clerks do not index. Smaller incorporated towns in the county, such as Pine Bluffs and Burns, have their own municipal courts as well.

What is available online

Neither the district clerk nor the circuit court clerk publishes an online case index. Wyoming courthouses provide a free public-access terminal for in-person searching, and the Wyoming State Law Library in Cheyenne (a short distance from the courthouse) has one as well. Attorneys of record can view their own case filings through the statewide eFiling system, but the public cannot.

Which clerk has your record

In Wyoming, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Wyoming page.
