Teton County's Clerk of District Court serves the Ninth Judicial District in Jackson. The office moved to temporary quarters at 250 East Simpson Street on February 23, 2026 while the new Justice Center is under construction. Use that current address from the clerk's main page: an older county search-instructions page still gives 180 South King Street. The mailing address remains P.O. Box 4460, Jackson, WY 83001.

Teton distinguishes a case/name search from a request for documents in a known case. Public indexes and docket sheets date to 1923, its case management system began in 2000, and scanning began in May 2014. Those dates describe different kinds of coverage; they do not make every historic case document available online.

What is available online

An emailed docket sheet for a known public case can be requested without charge, while the underlying documents usually carry a fee. Files more than ten years old may be at Wyoming State Archives; the clerk may retain the record of actions or disposition journal even after the paper file moves. Confirm the physical file's location with the clerk. Confidential documents are available only to authorized recipients and are not sent by ordinary public email request.

Which clerk has your record

In Wyoming, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Wyoming page.

Finding a case. The county charges $10 for each requested name or name variant and requires payment before processing. Its posted typical turnaround is five to seven business days after payment, although some searches take longer. Search results identify public cases and available records of action. Confirm current courier instructions because the office moved in 2026.

Obtaining documents. The county recommends its document-request form by email. Public documents sent by email cost $1 per page. Mail or pickup copies cost $1 for the first page and $0.50 for each additional page, plus $0.50 per certification or $5 per exemplification and required postage. The clerk quotes the total; payment is due before release. Certified or exemplified copies must be mailed under the published procedure.

Identify the record holder. Read the court name on the citation, order, or case notice. District Court, Circuit Court, and municipal courts have separate records. Include the case number if known, document title, approximate filing year, contact details, and requested delivery method. Ask for the full fee before sending payment; searching an index and copying a file can be different services.

Restricted and older material. Public access does not include every document in a case. The clerk must check restrictions before releasing confidential or sealed material, and a name search does not bypass that review. For an older file, ask whether the clerk still holds it or whether it has moved to an archive. This guide describes records access and does not provide legal advice.

Fees

Plain copyDistrict Court: $1 first page and $0.50 each additional page under W.S. 5-3-206(a)(vi)
Certified copyDistrict Court: $0.50 for each certificate and seal, plus copying, under W.S. 5-3-206(a)(v)

The Wyoming Legislature's current Title 5 text confirms these District Court amounts in W.S. 5-3-206(a)(v)-(vi). The section addresses civil matters; confirm charges for other records, electronic delivery, research, postage, and exemplification with the clerk. Circuit and municipal courts have separate schedules, so do not apply these amounts to every Wyoming court.

Sealed and restricted records

Wyoming court records are open to the public under the Wyoming Public Records Act (W.S. 16-4-201 et seq.) and the Wyoming Rules Governing Access to Case Records, but several categories are restricted or removed from public view:

The Wyoming guide lists every category of sealed and restricted record, and our guide to expunging or sealing a criminal record explains how to remove one from public view.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Teton District Court Clerk after the 2026 move?

The current main office page announces 250 East Simpson Street, Jackson, effective February 23, 2026. The county's older case-search page still shows South King Street, so use the move notice and call before a visit. Mail goes to P.O. Box 4460.

Does a Teton District Court search include Circuit Court cases?

No. The courts maintain different case files. The District Court clerk handles its district matters, while the Circuit Court clerk handles its misdemeanor, traffic, and limited civil records. Contact a municipal court separately when the paperwork names a city court.

How do I request a certified Teton County court copy?

Identify the court and document, then ask that court's clerk for certification and delivery requirements. A printed web page or ordinary photocopy is not a clerk-certified document. Confirm the charge for certification as well as copying and postage before paying.

Can I obtain confidential records by paying a search fee?

A search or copy fee does not grant access to restricted records. Juvenile, adoption, and sealed material may require authorized access or a court order. Tell the clerk which file you need and follow the access procedure for that case.
