Park County's District Court Clerk holds Fifth Judicial District records in Cody. The office is the record keeper for felony cases, larger civil claims, family matters, probate, and the district court's other filings. The Judicial Branch lists the district court at 1002 Sheridan Avenue. The clerk's county page provides separate Cody and Powell telephone access numbers, but that does not mean every type of case is handled by the District Court Clerk.
Park County also has Circuit Court locations in Cody and Powell. Cody Circuit Court is in Room 206 at 1002 Sheridan Avenue, while Powell Circuit Court is at 109 West 14th Street. Circuit Court files and city ordinance cases are kept separately from district-court files. Follow the court identified on a ticket or order when choosing the record holder.

What is available online
Park County's official clerk page explains public inspection alongside restrictions for juvenile and adoption records and records closed by court order. It does not offer an unrestricted online archive of all district cases. Ask about the file's availability and permitted delivery method before requesting payment instructions. The Circuit Court directories are useful for identifying the Cody or Powell office; they are not searchable dockets.
Which clerk has your record
In Wyoming, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Wyoming page.

Phone: 307-527-8690 (Cody); 307-754-8690 (Powell access number)
Hours: District Court Clerk: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
District records and payments. Reach the clerk using the Cody number, 307-527-8690, or the Powell access number, 307-754-8690. Explain whether you need a name search, a particular pleading, a divorce decree, or certification. The county's District Court page specifically warns against using its online payment links for Circuit Court citations and fines. A payment link is not a case-search portal, and paying at the wrong court does not obtain a copy from the correct file.
Identify the record holder. Read the court name on the citation, order, or case notice. District Court, Circuit Court, and municipal courts have separate records. Include the case number if known, document title, approximate filing year, contact details, and requested delivery method. Ask for the full fee before sending payment; searching an index and copying a file can be different services.
Restricted and older material. Public access does not include every document in a case. The clerk must check restrictions before releasing confidential or sealed material, and a name search does not bypass that review. For an older file, ask whether the clerk still holds it or whether it has moved to an archive. This guide describes records access and does not provide legal advice.
Fees
| Item | Typical cost in Wyoming |
|---|---|
| Plain copy | District Court: $1 first page and $0.50 each additional page under W.S. 5-3-206(a)(vi) |
| Certified copy | District Court: $0.50 for each certificate and seal, plus copying, under W.S. 5-3-206(a)(v) |
The Wyoming Legislature's current Title 5 text confirms these District Court amounts in W.S. 5-3-206(a)(v)-(vi). The section addresses civil matters; confirm charges for other records, electronic delivery, research, postage, and exemplification with the clerk. Circuit and municipal courts have separate schedules, so do not apply these amounts to every Wyoming court.

Sealed and restricted records
Wyoming court records are open to the public under the Wyoming Public Records Act (W.S. 16-4-201 et seq.) and the Wyoming Rules Governing Access to Case Records, but several categories are restricted or removed from public view:
The Wyoming guide lists every category of sealed and restricted record, and our guide to expunging or sealing a criminal record explains how to remove one from public view.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pay a Park County Circuit citation through the District Court page?
The District Court Clerk's page expressly says its payment options must not be used for Circuit Court citations and fines. Contact the Circuit Court identified on the citation. The same separation applies when requesting the case record.
Does a Park District Court search include Circuit Court cases?
No. The courts maintain different case files. The District Court clerk handles its district matters, while the Circuit Court clerk handles its misdemeanor, traffic, and limited civil records. Contact a municipal court separately when the paperwork names a city court.
How do I request a certified Park County court copy?
Identify the court and document, then ask that court's clerk for certification and delivery requirements. A printed web page or ordinary photocopy is not a clerk-certified document. Confirm the charge for certification as well as copying and postage before paying.
Can I obtain confidential records by paying a search fee?
A search or copy fee does not grant access to restricted records. Juvenile, adoption, and sealed material may require authorized access or a court order. Tell the clerk which file you need and follow the access procedure for that case.
