Albany County, home to the city of Laramie and the University of Wyoming, is Wyoming's sixth-most-populous county and seat of the Second Judicial District. The Albany County Clerk of Court (the local title for the Clerk of District Court) keeps district-court case files, and the Circuit Court Clerk is a separate office in the same building that keeps misdemeanor and small-civil case files for the circuit court.
Both offices are in the Albany County Courthouse on Grand Avenue in downtown Laramie. Wyoming state statute (W.S. 5-3-213) bars clerks and deputy clerks from giving legal advice, so the office can confirm procedure and fees but cannot tell you how to proceed with a case. As elsewhere in Wyoming, there is no online case-search website; records are searched in person, by phone, or by mail.
Tickets and ordinance violations from city police go to the City of Laramie Municipal Court, a separate city system not indexed by the county.

What is available online
Neither the Clerk of Court (district) nor the Circuit Court Clerk publishes an online case index. The Albany County Courthouse in Laramie has a public-access terminal for in-person searches. Attorneys of record can view their own filings through the statewide eFiling system, but that access is not open to the public.
Which clerk has your record
In Wyoming, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Wyoming page.

Fees
| Item | Typical cost in Wyoming |
|---|---|
| Plain copy | District Court: $1 first page and $0.50 each additional page under W.S. 5-3-206(a)(vi) |
| Certified copy | District Court: $0.50 for each certificate and seal, plus copying, under W.S. 5-3-206(a)(v) |
The Wyoming Legislature's current Title 5 text confirms these District Court amounts in W.S. 5-3-206(a)(v)-(vi). The section addresses civil matters; confirm charges for other records, electronic delivery, research, postage, and exemplification with the clerk. Circuit and municipal courts have separate schedules, so do not apply these amounts to every Wyoming court.

Sealed and restricted records
Wyoming court records are open to the public under the Wyoming Public Records Act (W.S. 16-4-201 et seq.) and the Wyoming Rules Governing Access to Case Records, but several categories are restricted or removed from public view:
The Wyoming guide lists every category of sealed and restricted record, and our guide to expunging or sealing a criminal record explains how to remove one from public view.
Frequently asked questions
Can I search Albany County court records online?
No. Neither the Clerk of Court nor the Circuit Court Clerk has an online case-search site. Visit the public-access terminal at the Albany County Courthouse in Laramie or contact the clerk directly.
Why is the district-court office called the "Clerk of Court" instead of "Clerk of District Court"?
That is simply the local title Albany County uses. It performs the same function as a district clerk elsewhere in Wyoming: keeping felony, civil, family, and probate files for the district court.
Where do I find a misdemeanor charged in Laramie, Wyoming?
Check with the Circuit Court Clerk of the Second Judicial District for county or state charges, or the City of Laramie Municipal Court for city ordinance and traffic tickets from Laramie police.
Can the clerk's office give me legal advice about my case?
No. Wyoming statute (W.S. 5-3-213) prohibits the Clerk of Court and deputy clerks from giving legal advice. They can explain procedure, forms, and fees, but not how to handle your case.
