Larimer County, home to Fort Collins and Loveland in northern Colorado, sits in the 8th Judicial District. Its district and county courts share one Clerk of Court based at the Larimer County Justice Center in downtown Fort Collins, but the county is one of the few in Colorado with a second, full-service courthouse: the Loveland County Court at 810 E 10th Street handles both county-court and district-court case types for the southern half of the county. A case may therefore be filed in either building, and the two locations have different phone numbers and hours.

Colorado's trial courts are run by the state Judicial Branch, so there is no Larimer County-only case search. Scheduled hearings and basic case data for both Fort Collins and Loveland are on the Judicial Branch's free docket search filtered to Larimer County; a fuller register of actions is available through the paid CoCourts service. Fort Collins Municipal Court and Loveland Municipal Court are city courts with their own dockets and are not in either state tool.

The 8th Judicial District has a dedicated records email and directs the public to the Judicial Branch's online Record/Document Request Form, which makes mail-free requests straightforward.

Fort Collins Municipal Court tickets are on a separate third-party docket search linked from the city website, and Loveland Municipal Court keeps its own records.

Which clerk has your record

In Colorado, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Colorado page.

Frequently asked questions

Is my Larimer County case in Fort Collins or Loveland?

Either. The Loveland County Court handles both county-court and district-court case types, so cases from the southern part of the county are often filed there. The statewide docket search covers both locations under the Larimer County filter and shows the courthouse for each hearing.

Is there a separate case search for Larimer County?

No. Larimer County uses the statewide Colorado Judicial Branch docket search (filter to Larimer County) and the paid CoCourts register of actions. Fort Collins Municipal Court has its own docket search linked from the city website.

How do I request court records from the 8th Judicial District without visiting?

Fill out the Judicial Branch's online Record/Document Request Form or email it to 08RecordRequest@judicial.state.co.us. Plain copies are $0.25 per page and certified copies $20 per document; the clerk will tell you how to pay.

Are Fort Collins traffic tickets in the county court system?

Only if issued by a county or state agency such as the sheriff or State Patrol. Tickets written by Fort Collins police go to Fort Collins Municipal Court, a city court that is not part of the state docket search.
