Boulder County makes up the entire 20th Judicial District, so its district and county courts share one Clerk of Court, known locally as the Boulder County Combined Court. The main courthouse is the Boulder County Justice Center at 1777 6th Street in Boulder, and a second combined-court location in Longmont at 1035 Kimbark Street handles criminal, civil, probate, domestic relations, and juvenile matters for the eastern part of the county. Both are part of the same state court system and the same clerk's office.
A point of confusion is that the Boulder County Justice Center building also houses Boulder Municipal Court, a City of Boulder court on the first floor. The municipal court handles city ordinance violations, including traffic, parking, photo enforcement, animal, and municipal misdemeanor cases, and keeps its own records; the state Combined Court on the same site does not have them.
There is no Boulder County-only case search. Use the Judicial Branch's free statewide docket search filtered to Boulder County, or the paid CoCourts service for a register of actions. The Combined Court has a dedicated Research Department that handles records requests by email or phone.

A city court, not part of the state Judicial Branch, even though it sits on the first floor of the Boulder County Justice Center at 1777 6th Street. 303-441-1841 (administrative office), 303-441-1840 (violations bureau); Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Records are requested through the city's municipal court records page.
What is available online
The free statewide docket search shows scheduled hearings and basic case data for Boulder County district and county courts at both the Boulder and Longmont locations; it does not show full case histories or documents. CoCourts, the Judicial Branch's paid vendor, returns a register of actions that includes many closed cases. Boulder Municipal Court cases are not in either tool and must be requested from the city. Hearing transcripts are ordered through the court's transcript vendor rather than the clerk.
Which clerk has your record
In Colorado, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Colorado page.
| Court | Typical cases | Records kept by |
|---|---|---|
| District Courts (22 judicial districts) | Felony criminal cases; Civil claims of any dollar amount; Divorce, custody, and other domestic relations | Clerk of Court for the judicial district (Colorado Judicial Branch) |

| Denver County Court | Denver municipal ordinance violations; Traffic tickets issued in Denver; State misdemeanors filed in Denver | Denver County Court Clerk (City and County of Denver, not the state Judicial Branch) |
