Pima County's Superior Court records are kept by the Clerk of the Superior Court of Pima County, based at the courthouse in downtown Tucson. The clerk's office keeps felony, civil, family, probate, and juvenile files for cases heard in Superior Court, and offers a public online case search as well as an "eAccess" system for parties and attorneys who need to view scanned documents.

Misdemeanors, evictions, small claims, and county-issued traffic citations are handled separately by Pima County's justice courts. Tickets and misdemeanors from Tucson police or other city police departments in the county go to that city's municipal court instead.

Online coverage has a hard cutoff: civil and criminal Superior Court case records are available through the statewide eAccess system only from July 1, 2010 forward, and Pima County criminal records specifically are only available in eAccess from July 1, 2015 forward. Older cases must be looked up in person.

What is available online

The Public Record Search gives limited free viewing of case information. Full scanned documents are only available through eAccess, and only for civil/criminal cases filed on or after July 1, 2010 (July 1, 2015 for Pima County criminal cases specifically); newly filed documents can take up to three business days to appear online. Records from before those dates, or documents excluded from eAccess, must be requested or viewed in person at the Clerk's Office.

Which clerk has your record

In Arizona, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Arizona page.

Fees

ItemTypical cost in Arizona
Plain copy$0.50 per page
Certified copy$30.00 statutory certification fee per document, plus $0.50 per page; most county clerks post $35.00

A.R.S. § 12-284 sets the Superior Court clerk's base fees at $0.50 per page for copies (Class F) and $30.00 for a certificate of correctness or document certification (Class E), and states that copy fees are separate from certification fees. Counties add authorized surcharges, so posted county schedules commonly show $35.00 per certification and an $8.00 postage-and-handling charge (Mohave, Coconino, Yavapai, Apache); Navajo County posts $30.00. Justice courts use a separate limited-jurisdiction schedule (typically $0.50 per page and $33.00 per certification). Confirm the total with the specific clerk before sending payment.

Sealed and restricted records

Arizona court records are presumed open under Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123, which sets the general rule that records of the Judicial Department are available for public inspection unless a specific confidentiality interest outweighs that presumption. Several categories will not appear in a public search:

The Arizona guide lists every category of sealed and restricted record, and our guide to expunging or sealing a criminal record explains how to remove one from public view.
