Coconino County is the largest county in Arizona by land area, stretching from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon and the Utah line, but its Superior Court records are kept in one place: the Clerk of the Superior Court at the Coconino County Courthouse, 200 N. San Francisco Street in downtown Flagstaff. The clerk is the official record keeper for civil, criminal, domestic relations, probate, adoption, and juvenile cases, stores trial exhibits, issues marriage licenses, and serves as jury commissioner for both the Superior Court and the county's justice courts.

The clerk's office does not run a county case-search site. Its "Web-Based Services" page directs the public to two Arizona Supreme Court tools: the free Public Access to Court Case Information portal for case histories and limited minute entries, and eAccess for viewing and downloading public documents for a fee. The office is candid that not every document can be posted online and that the complete file is always maintained at the clerk's counter in Flagstaff.

Traffic citations and misdemeanor complaints are not handled by the Superior Court clerk, and the office cannot look up other courts' records. Those cases belong to one of the county's justice courts — Flagstaff, Fredonia, Page, or Williams — or to a city magistrate court such as Flagstaff Municipal Court.

What is available online

Coconino County has no county-run case search. The clerk's Web-Based Services page links to the Arizona Supreme Court's Public Access to Court Case Information portal, which tracks filings in public cases and offers limited access to certain minute entries but not other filings, and to eAccess, which provides public documents and some certified copies for a fee where they are available. Marriage licenses are not available through eAccess. Attorneys have filed civil cases electronically since April 2019 and criminal cases since January 2021, so document images for those years are more complete than for older paper files; self-represented parties may still file on paper.

Which clerk has your record

In Arizona, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Arizona page.

Fees

ItemTypical cost in Arizona
Plain copy$0.50 per page
Certified copy$30.00 statutory certification fee per document, plus $0.50 per page; most county clerks post $35.00

A.R.S. § 12-284 sets the Superior Court clerk's base fees at $0.50 per page for copies (Class F) and $30.00 for a certificate of correctness or document certification (Class E), and states that copy fees are separate from certification fees. Counties add authorized surcharges, so posted county schedules commonly show $35.00 per certification and an $8.00 postage-and-handling charge (Mohave, Coconino, Yavapai, Apache); Navajo County posts $30.00. Justice courts use a separate limited-jurisdiction schedule (typically $0.50 per page and $33.00 per certification). Confirm the total with the specific clerk before sending payment.

Sealed and restricted records

Arizona court records are presumed open under Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123, which sets the general rule that records of the Judicial Department are available for public inspection unless a specific confidentiality interest outweighs that presumption. Several categories will not appear in a public search:

The Arizona guide lists every category of sealed and restricted record, and our guide to expunging or sealing a criminal record explains how to remove one from public view.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Coconino County court case search website?
