Linn County sits in the middle of the Willamette Valley between the Willamette River and the crest of the Cascades, with Albany as the county seat and Lebanon and Sweet Home as its other main towns. It is Oregon's 23rd Judicial District, served by a single Circuit Court with five elected judges at the 1940 Linn County Courthouse on SW Fourth Avenue in Albany. That one court holds the case file for every felony, misdemeanor, divorce, civil suit, probate estate, and guardianship in the county.

Records are handled by the court's Copy & Archives Department in Room 107 on the first floor of the courthouse. It is one of the more clearly documented records offices in Oregon: the court posts its full copy fee list, delivery options, and turnaround expectations, and it takes requests through the Oregon Judicial Department's statewide online form as well as at the counter. Requests are worked in the order received, with a response within about five court business days and completion in ten or more for larger requests. Any copy order totaling under $5.00 has its fee waived.

Two limits to keep in mind. Linn County Circuit Court does not produce written transcripts; it sells audio recordings of hearings instead, with the clerk's log sheets included. And the county-run Linn County Justice Court in Lebanon, along with the municipal courts in Albany, Lebanon, and Sweet Home, keep their own traffic and violation records outside the state system.

What is available online

Linn County Circuit Court cases appear in the free statewide OJD Online Records Search (basic case information and calendars only; adoption, juvenile, mental-health, and VAWA-protected cases excluded). Filed documents are not viewable online by the public; the court delivers requested documents and audio through encrypted email links that expire after 14 days. The full register of actions is available at the courthouse or to OJCIN Online subscribers. If you cannot find a case number, the statewide request form accepts "unknown" in the case-number field. Justice Court and municipal court cases are not in the state systems.

Which clerk has your record

In Oregon, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Oregon page.
