Humboldt County, in north-central Nevada along Interstate 80, follows the state's default arrangement: the elected Humboldt County Clerk acts as clerk of the Sixth Judicial District Court and maintains all of the district court's records, in addition to issuing marriage licenses, keeping the county commission's minutes, and running elections. The Sixth Judicial District was realigned to serve Humboldt County alone, with one district judge who also presides over the district's specialty courts. The clerk's office is in Room 207 of the historic Humboldt County Courthouse at 50 W. Fifth Street in Winnemucca; the judge's chambers are across the street at 25 W. Fifth Street.

There is no online case search for Humboldt County district-court files. Anyone researching a felony, civil, divorce, custody, or probate case must call, write, or visit the County Clerk. The clerk's office publishes a fee schedule for its services, and statewide district-court copy fees are set by NRS 19.013 at $0.50 per page and $3.00 per certification.

The county has a single justice court, Union Township Justice Court, in Rooms 208–210 of the same courthouse. It handles misdemeanors, traffic, evictions, small claims up to $10,000, civil actions up to $15,000, protection orders, and the preliminary stages of felony cases. Its own page lists the agencies whose citations it processes — the Sheriff's Office, Nevada Highway Patrol, the Department of Wildlife, county animal control, and the Winnemucca Police Department — so, unlike in many Nevada cities, Winnemucca police tickets are heard in the justice court rather than a separate municipal court.

What is available online

Humboldt County publishes no online court case search. District-court case information must be requested from the County Clerk, and justice-court case information from the Union Township Justice Court, by phone, mail, or in person. The justice court accepts online fine payments through nCourt, and the county site links to online payments generally, but neither is a docket search. The Sixth Judicial District Court's website posts court calendars for district and juvenile court settings, which show scheduled hearings but not case files.

Which clerk has your record

In Nevada, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Nevada page.
