Douglas County, stretching from the Carson Valley towns of Minden and Gardnerville up to the Nevada shore of Lake Tahoe, makes up the entire Ninth Judicial District. The district court has two departments and its own Clerk of the Court (the Court Administrator/Clerk of Court), with a filing office on the second floor of the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden. That is where felony, civil, divorce, custody, probate, and guardianship files live. The elected Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer, in a different building at 1616 8th Street, handles marriage licenses, elections, and property taxes; its website simply links visitors to the district court and justice courts for court records.
The Ninth Judicial District Court holds court records from 1925 to the present. There is no public online docket search; the court's Record Searches page explains that information can be requested in person at the counter, by mail, or by fax using the court's Record Search Copy Request form, and it lists the copy, certified-copy, and exemplified-copy fees. E-filing for parties runs through the statewide eFiling Nevada portal.
Two township justice courts handle misdemeanors, traffic, evictions, small claims, and civil cases up to $15,000. East Fork Justice Court sits in the same Minden building as the district court and covers the valley. Tahoe Justice Court at 175 Highway 50 in Stateline covers the Lake Tahoe side of the county, from the Carson City line on Highway 28 to the Stateline casinos and Daggett Summit — a jurisdiction that sees millions of visitors a year and, with them, a steady flow of traffic and misdemeanor citations.

What is available online
Douglas County courts do not publish a public online case index. The Ninth Judicial District Court's website offers a downloadable Record Search Copy Request form and online fee payment (Point & Pay), but case searches are performed by clerk staff on request. East Fork and Tahoe Justice Courts likewise handle record requests by phone, mail, or in person; both accept online fine payments. Parties to a case can e-file through the statewide eFiling Nevada portal, which is not a public search tool.
Which clerk has your record
In Nevada, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the Nevada page.
| Court | Typical cases | Records kept by |
|---|---|---|
| District Courts | Felony criminal cases; Civil cases over $15,000; Divorce, custody, and other family cases | District Court Clerk — the county clerk acting ex officio in most counties, or a separately elected or appointed clerk of court where the district has created that office |
| Justice Courts | Misdemeanor crimes and traffic offenses; Civil cases and small claims up to $15,000; Evictions | Justice Court Clerk for that township or precinct |
| Municipal Courts | City ordinance violations; Misdemeanor traffic tickets issued within city limits; Minor criminal citations by city police | Municipal court clerk for that city |
