Camden County is its own Superior Court vicinage, based at the Camden County Hall of Justice at 101 South 5th Street in Camden, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. The vicinage's Civil, Criminal, and Family Divisions hold the county's Superior Court files — indictable criminal cases, civil and Special Civil Part suits, landlord-tenant matters, foreclosures, and family cases. The vicinage lists one switchboard (856-650-9100) with extensions for each unit, including a Civil Case Reception & Records counter and a Landlord/Tenant & Special Civil unit. Probation and child support offices are separate, in Cherry Hill.

The Camden County Clerk, in Room 102 of the Camden County Courthouse at 520 Market Street, is a different building and a different office. It records deeds and mortgages, registers trade names and notaries, issues passports, and runs elections; it does not hold Superior Court case files. The two buildings are a few blocks apart in downtown Camden, and people looking for a criminal or civil case regularly show up at Market Street first.

Camden County's 37 municipalities each run (or share) a municipal court for traffic tickets and ordinance violations; those records are searched through the statewide Municipal Court Public Portal rather than through the vicinage. Wills and estates are with the Camden County Surrogate, another separate elected office.

What is available online

Camden County has no county-run case search. Superior Court civil and foreclosure dockets are on the statewide Civil and Foreclosure Public Access portal after a free registration. New Jersey does not publish a public statewide criminal case search, so criminal records requests go to the vicinage's Criminal Division. Family case detail is largely confidential under Rule 1:38. Municipal tickets from Camden City, Cherry Hill, Gloucester Township, and the county's other towns are on the separate Municipal Court Public Portal. Land records are searchable online through the County Clerk.

Which clerk has your record

In New Jersey, the clerk who keeps a file depends on which court heard the case. Check the court name on the case notice, citation, or order, then use the office and coverage details above to identify the record holder. Court names and responsibilities differ by state; a county clerk may not keep court case files. For federal cases, see the PACER guide. The full court structure is on the New Jersey page.

Sealed and restricted records

New Jersey court records are governed by Rule 1:38 (Public Access to Court Records and Administrative Records), which lists categories excluded from public access — including most Family Part records (custody, domestic violence, adoption), juvenile matters, and cases a judge has ordered impounded.

The New Jersey guide lists every category of sealed and restricted record, and our guide to expunging or sealing a criminal record explains how to remove one from public view.
